Bag to Bin Crop Tour 2018

Agronomic test plots are nothing new. I’m sure most of you get invited out to a field day at your seed dealer’s test plot each year to learn more about the variances, advances and options available in seed varieties. Or maybe the local coop has invited you to their field Photo May 18, 1 12 57 PM.jpgplot, where they compare various brands head-to-head, while analyzing fertilizer placements and options. Many of you have probably planted your own trial plots to test out theories or questions of your own. With so many opportunities already available to compare and learn about planting variations and applications, why would an equipment dealer want to plant a field plot themselves?

While most of your traditional field plots do account for measuring and analyzing various planting practices as well as seed technology, we wanted to put our equipment Photo May 18, 2 30 44 PM.jpgand technology to the test ourselves!  The advancements in equipment and technology in the past several years has drastically improved the accuracy and consistency of planting, increasing your yields and profits.  We read and hear about advancements in White Planters and new Precision Planting technology, but how often do we get to see it firsthand, in-use in the field and analyze effects on yields in our own central Wisconsin field and weather conditions?  How often do we hear data from plots in Iowa or Southern Illinois or Nebraska and think, sure I’d have 20 more bushels per acre with that kind of weather or soil too?

This year, Swiderski Equipment is putting it all to the test right here in central Wisconsin with our Bag to Bin Crop Tour.  As your partner on the job and in the field, our goal is to Photo May 18, 8 42 37 PM.jpgensure our customers are maximizing their yield potential from the seed bag to the corn (or bean) bin. Yield is money. Accuracy, placement, depth, and singulation are all key factors that affect your yield.  Dialing in on those key points and minimizing your inputs will help you increase yields, ultimately increasing your profits.  What better way to help you maximize profits and understand the full return on investment, than to test the equipment and technology in typical field and weather conditions ourselves.

On May 18, 2018, we planted a 10-acre plot with 9 different trials evaluating how agronomic variables, equipment variances and technology affect yield. Our goal is to showcase the importance of planter setup, planting techniques and proper use of photo-may-18-3-26-12-pm.jpgtechnology to ensure even emergence, precise depth control, and proper downforce with highly accurate seed singulation and spacing. With various controls in place, we will also be analyzing organic matter on a variety of factors such as plant population, hybrid selection, and nitrogen management.  We are excited to tie the planting data and season-long growing details to harvest data in order to analyze opportunities for improving yields and recouping your return on investment faster!

Swiderski Equipment, along with White Planters and Precision Planting have committed to helping you improve yields and profits.  We are also thankful for partners like Pioneer Seeds, Cropping Central, LLC, and Marathon Feed & Grain for their partnership on the field plot.

We will continuously check progress throughout the growing season and will update you through field reports, social media updates, and video resources.  Watch our YouTube Photo Jun 05, 2 52 03 PMchannel, our Facebook page and visit our Swiderski Equipment Blog often for progress reports and highlights on the field plot, as well as White Planters and Precision Planting technology used. We also look forward to hosting in-field events, including the Bag to Bin Crop Tour Field Days in August. Watch for more information on this field event, featuring in-field demonstrations, presentations and hands-on activities for you to see first-hand the effects of varying planting techniques and technology. We look forward to sharing the data and best practices learned from the test plot this summer!
