November Farm Family of the Month – Albrecht Family Farms

Our November Farm Family of the Month trip took just past the center of the northern half of the western Hemisphere….otherwise known to most people as Athens, WI. (If you didn’t know, Poniatowski, a small unincorporated town just outside of Athens is famous as the exact center of the northern half of the western hemisphere, located at the 45̊  N – 90̊   W geographic marker.) But back to the business at hand….celebrating Albrecht Family Farms!

Proudly rooted in Athens, WI since 1981, Albrecht Family Farms is now in its third generation – and we were fortunate to meet all 3!  Our visit included meeting family matriarch Nancy Albrecht, her daughter Denise Balz (with her two granddaughters) and grandson Willie Albrecht. This innovative family has a long history of finding new solutions to improve farming practices, including growing corn under a biodegradable film and diversifying crops to include corn, soybeans and black beans. The desire to keep improving and keep making things better has proven that great things don’t just grow in the field; sometimes they’re built in the farm shop.

While the farm may look differently than it did when it started out almost 50 years ago, the work ethic and ingenuity and strong agricultural traditions continue on into the next generation. A true example of persistence, creativity, and farm-based engineering — Albrecht Family Farms is leading by innovation and legacy.  We appreciate your family and the work you do and salute you as the November Farm Family of the Month! Congratulations, again, and thank you to Albrecht Family Farms!
